Making emails easy to read on the go

We all consume more content on our phones today then ever before and that trend shows no sign of stopping. In the near future, who knows what kind of mobile and wearable devices your subscribers will be reading your newsletter on. Because of this, it is important that you have what is known as a responsive deisgn for your newsletter. This simply means that the layout will expand and collapse, depending on the size of the screen that it's being viewed on. If you had your site designed or built in the last few years, you more than likely have already had this applied to your website. Thankfully, you don't have to worry too much about the technical side of how to do this because your newletter solution will do it for you.

As you can see here in MailChimp, we are able to click Preview and Test to see what our newsletter will look like on a computer screen but also on a simulated phone. We can scroll through it and even turn the phone to see what it looks like in both directions. It's also a good practice to send yourself a copy of the newsletter before you send it out and open it up both on your computer and on your phone so that you can personally confirm it looks and reads okay on both. You want your subscribers to read your newsletter, no matter where they are or what device they are on.

So take the extra few minutes to ensure this happens.
